Cameras

buy an iphoneiPhone

You may have raised your eyebrows and thought, “Seriously? A phone?” when you saw that the first camera I recommend is an iPhone, but hear me out. There are SO MANY reasons I highly suggest starting out being a YouTuber with a smartphone:

  • They’re portable (most of us have them on us all the time, anyway)
  • They’re much more inconspicuous than a “typical” camera
  • They’re light
  • They’re durable (It would be hard to count how many times I’ve dropped my iPhone 7)
  • It’s easy to access and review your clips on them
  • iPhones are so advanced that these days the audio and video quality will be more than adequate, even if you buy an older model
  • iPhones come with access to iMovie

G7X Mark ii

My dad bought his G7X mark ii in 2016 and we have been super impressed with it. I recommend it because:

buy a G7XThe low light capabilities of this little camera are stunning. Seriously, it’s better than my own eyes!

It’s not bulky, so it’s easy to whip out and carry around with you if you’re vlogging. Your arm won’t get too tired either haha.

The tilting screen is incredibly helpful. When you’re still figuring out how to position yourself it’ll help you make sure you don’t cut your head off. Just don’t make the mistake of looking at yourself in the camera instead of the lens! Also, I like that it allows me to make sure that it’s recording, that I haven’t ran out of space, and that the battery hasn’t died.
