Editing Software

Final Cut ProFinal Cut Pro

I’ve been using Final Cut Pro for most of my YouTube “career,” and I absolutely recommend it. The controls allow you to editquickly and precisely. Besides the basic editing features there are transitions and filters that allow you to get creative with your videos. Another thing I really appreciate about Final Cut Pro is all of the text options. Figuring out how to use it all may seem daunting at first, but soon you won’t even have to think about it and the editing keys will seem almost like extensions of your fingers.

iMovie

If you’re an Apple user, iMovie is a solid choice for beginning YouTubers. There’s no reason to buy some expensive software when you’re just still learning the basics and aren’t even sure if you like being a YouTuber, right? I have used iMovie on both my laptop and phone, and it’s helped me make quite a few videos. A neat feature of iMovie is the ability to start a project on one device and finish it on a different device. And although I nearly always edit with Final Cut Pro now, I love knowing that even if I don’t bring my laptop with me, I’ll still have a way to edit videos I film on my iPhone with the iMovie app!
